The Daniel Ferguson Memorial Foundation, or Daniel's Challenge, is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization that seeks to bring camaraderie and strength of mind & body to the veteran community.
The foundation was created by Jeaneane, the founder of California Bodies, LLC, after the tragic loss of her son, an 82nd Airborne veteran, to suicide. Seeking answers, Jeaneane discovered a community whom, after service, felt a loss of purpose and brotherhood outside of the military community contributing to a reported 20 veteran suicides per day.
To fight this epidemic, The Daniel Ferguson Memorial Foundation promotes mental & physical fitness, creating a new "brotherhood" for our veterans. The foundation further sponsors and organizes events throughout the nation, fitness specific and otherwise, ensuring our veteran community is active and engaged in competitive events that support team camaraderie
Patriot Hunts was founded by Ken and Pam Barnard, both military brats and huge supporters of the military. Ken being an avid outdoorsman, plus the fact he was born right here on Ft. Bragg, slowly began to see the need for getting our wounded warriors involved in the outdoors. After numerous trips to Walter Reed Army hospital, and visiting friends before during and after surgeries, I knew then the path I would take was set into motion. It not only broke my heart as to what I saw there, but it gave me a passion like no other, and a direction I knew I had to take. I wanted to introduce every wounded soldier that was interested in the outdoors to have a chance to go out and experience it. Or to give those that already like to hunt or fish the opportunity to get back in the outdoors.

The Recon & Sniper Foundation was founded in 2015 by a group of Recon Marines, Scout Snipers, and Navy SARCs. The Foundation's mission is twofold, emergency assistance and veteran community engagement. We assist current service members and veterans from all branches of the Armed Forces. Assistance can be in the form of financial help, peer counseling, mental health treatment, or any other feasible and viable form of aid. Emergency requests are submitted via the Recon & Sniper Foundation website and assessed by experienced case managers, who ensure the request for assistance is legitimate. Our team fully considers the interests of the veteran and stewardship of our donors' gifts.
In addition to the mission of emergency assistance, the Recon & Sniper Foundation also provides various preventative mental health events throughout the year. From individual and group therapy in the mountains of Colorado at Rawah Ranch to veteran get-togethers in southern California, the Foundation provides veterans with a variety of ways to address their mental health, emphasizing prevention and long-term care.
The Recon & Sniper Foundation also supports veterans through Team RSF, our competitive sport subsidiary. Through Team RSF, veterans and service members are provided a network of support to pursue competitive sport outlets in areas such as USPSA, precision rifle, endurance sports, cowboy sports, and more. These men and women compete around the country representing the Recon & Sniper Foundation and to support the cause.
Learn about us and how Camp Bliss started. Independent Lifestyles is a nonprofit that has been serving those with disabilities in Central MN since 1997. Throughout our history, we have attempted to serve Veterans with disabilities. During the course of our work, it has become clear that there is a significant need for a retreat center.
The main focus of this center is to assist people with disabilities and Veterans. As a result, Veterans can reconnect with their families, heal from trauma experienced during their service, cope with any service-related disability, and adjust to civilian life.
We use different retreat centers and parks to create a tranquil location for healing. We encourage women veterans to tell their stories and build supportive community of sharing with other women veterans. Veterans share cabins and have constant access to staff during our retreats.
Our signature multi-day retreat events incorporate recreational and group therapies. These events encompass activities designed to foster camaraderie, physical achievements, and an overall he

Most veterans who participate in our programs come directly from: Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, MD; Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, TX, and the Naval Medical Center in San Diego, CA. Vail Veterans Program events are provided to military injured and their families entirely free of charge.
Veterans returning home from a “normal” tour in a warzone will tell you that returning to everyday life is not easy. Returning can be even more difficult for family members who are struggling to understand the changes that have occurred and continue to occur in their loved ones after a combat deployment. In the end, reintegration between warfighters and their families is very difficult. Now, try to imagine receiving a phone call where a stranger tells you that your loved one has been seriously injured while conducting combat operations. Your loved one is alive, but his or her condition is unclear, and it is unknown if they will survive. This situation has happened to nearly every one of the men and women we work for everyday. To obtain some semblance of normalcy, the warriors and families that survive combat trauma must work through the stress of these events and the lifelong changes that result. OSC recognizes the stress families experience from combat-related trauma and the importance of strong family support.
We see the struggles that take place with families trying to reconnect and regain the “normal” in life after returning home from a warzone with severe injuries. We also understand how a positive attitude can impact the recovery process. One of the many ways OSC assists our wounded warriors and their families is by providing retreats that facilitate this part of the recovery process. We actively work to get wounded warriors and their families out of their hotel rooms and the hospital environment to help them relax and reconnect. OSC offers a variety of retreats depending on the individual’s injuries and their ability to get away. We provide short local overnight trips to those who need a quick getaway but do not have the ability to go very far from the care received at the hospital or from their chain of command.
We also provide longer retreats for those who are further along in their recovery and are able to get away for longer periods. During our retreats we offer many different activities for the individuals to choose from, as well as give wounded veterans and their families the opportunity to rest, relax and complete activities on their own. All OSC retreats are all-inclusive and have no cost to our recovering service members and their families.
OSC offers retreats specifically designed for:
